Question CuePoints in vod, is it possible at all?

    Hello,
I have been reading some threads in the forum about cuePoints, but it seems that only CuePoints in live (or live + record) streams are supported.

I tried to make some tests, following the indications found in this thread, but the CuePoint does not trigger on the client.

Is it possible at all to inject CuePoints server-side in vod streams, without calling a function from another client?

I cannot add the CuePoints to the video file for a number of reasons.

    Thank you.

Yes, that method works with Livestreams, and the recordings that Wowza makes from live streams.

You can use a tool like Captionate to add cuepoints to a pre-recorded video. And some player systems use xml file to map data to timecodes to accomplish the same thing.

    Richard,
thank you for your reply. The point is that I cannot add cuepoints to the video file (it's a mp4 which as far as I understand does not support cuepoints).

My question is: is there a way to trigger some sort of action into the player from the server? Anything would do, for example, I can setup a Timer to inject the cuepoints at specified time (would need to handle seeking, but it's not impossible).

Or, any other suggestion? Thank you again.

    Cheers,

Actually, the 2nd post in that thread showing the new compact version might work with vod:
