Price Change Announcement from Amazon - New High Memory Instances - New Tokyo Region

We have some great news. Tomorrow, March 15th at 5pm PDT we will make available the Wowza Server EC2 edition in the new Asia Pacific Tokyo Region. We are also releasing High-Memory instances world wide.

As part of this release Amazon has sent all of our customers a long email with the subject 'Price Change for Wowza Media Server 2'. It looks alarming, but be assured that NO prices were changed. We are just adding some new AMIs and the email you receive is how Amazon announces that.

Can you please update the information about sizing guidelines, actually are

1. Small 150 mbs (Which is approximately 600 250/kbs streams)
2. Large 225 mbs (Approx. 900 250/kbs streams)
3. X-large 350 mbs (Approx. 1400 250/kbs streams)

What about of the High Memory Large instances? How much bandwidth does they have?
High-Memory Extra Large
High-Memory Double Extra Large
High-Memory Quadruple Extra Large
High-CPU Extra Large

AWS doesn't report as exactly and we don't have numbers for these other types, but you can check this page and see how AWS rate "I/O Performance" for each type and compare to the m1.small, large and xlarge.

Mmmm... is there a way to calculate their bandwidth and aprox. number of supported streams?

You can use the Wowza Load Test Tool, which you can get by sending request to test@wowza.com

But if you just want a truckload of bandwidth for a short time, you can use one of these.

It's the only type with specific I/O Performance: 10gbs

There is not a pre-built devpay AMI of this type, but you can run it with a daily license (or perpetual or monthly). Also, you probably will only saturate at most half the 10gbs nic because of limitation in Java.

You can work-around it by installing two instances of Wowza and maybe two installs of Java (not sure about that). For a short run it is probably not worth the trouble.

And the Wowza Test Tool what you said, you meant Flash RTMP Load Test Tool? or that is another one?
