Default Wowza Server 3 Preview: Server Specifications NVidia CUDA Acceleration

The Wowza Media Server 3 Preview live stream transcoder AddOn supports accelerated video encoding. It supports both the Intel QuickSync (Sandy Bridge) acceleration as well as NVidia CUDA acceleration. Any NVidia graphics card that supports the CUDA instructions set should be compatible with the Wowza Server 3 live stream transcoder AddOn acclerated CUDA encoding. Below is a list of supported graphics cards and drivers:

    NVidia CUDA GPUs

It is best to upgrade to the latest, latest graphics driver.

Do you have any ballpark numbers of capacity or thoughput of the Sandy Bridge or Cuda accelerators for transcoding? I'm interested in transcoding 1080p60 to lower bitrates to take advantage of variable bit rate streaming.

Not yet, it is something we hope to publish when we get close to the release.

    Hello,

Is it possible to use NVidia CUDA Acceleration under Linux (Debian/Ubuntu) ??

Windows 64bit is required at present.

No, we hope to have a follow on release with this capability.

Any idea how this would work if one is running Wowza Media Server on Amazon EC2? I don't believe they have Nvidia-based GPU machines in non-US zones (and maybe not in US zones as well). What is the alternative?

Transcoding can work without acceleration with Wowza pre-built instances. I think the high-memory types should work best.

Is there support for Linux in the current follow on release (3.0.3) ?
