Thread: Low Framerate on SS

    Default Low Framerate on SS

Hi all Iīm almost new with Wowza.
We are having some issues with VOD (content that is played via Wowza server
The content is Smooth Streaming and is encoded using MEE4 with differents files for different bitrates (as BigBuckBunny from MS)
The content is played whitout any problem except that allways I get between 12-14 fps when is played.

Do you have any clue of what is going on with this ?

    Thanks

Not sure, but here are some things to look at:

Our encoding presets from Expression 4:

    Test using these sets:

Basline 3 profile Encoded for IPhone

    http://www.wowzamedia.com/_h264/bigb...iphone_400.mp4
    http://www.wowzamedia.com/_h264/bigb...iphone_600.mp4

    Main Profile

    http://www.wowzamedia.com/_h264/bigbuckbunny_750.mp4
    http://www.wowzamedia.com/_h264/bigbuckbunny_1100.mp4

And test locally and over the network.

And test with the Wowza SimpleVideoStreaming Silverlight example, look in the clientSilverlight folder

Richard īve change the encoding options on Ms expression encoder 4.. Iīve setted b-frames =0 this was the only way to get between 20/30 fps on the vod content.
Which kind of configurarion (of b-frames) is supported by Wowza ?

    Thanks.-

Wowza supports B-frames, but many players have problems with multiple or complex B-frames, and they are not really needed.

We have Silverlight example players in the SimpleVideoStreaming and LiveVideoStreaming examples. Otherwise we recommend the Expression 4 templates,

And take a look the SMF player:

Also, the ISMV and ISM files should work with Wowza and sanjose, cupertino and smooth streaming, in players and devices that support those type streams. The ISMV files would have to be baseline 3 for many iOS devices.

    Richard,
B frames are usefull for encoding a video with more quality and less bitrate. This option is very usefull to encode HD movies. If we donīt use b-frames the encoding times are taking 3 times more. What we really don't understand is if Wowza is incompatible with B-Frames and will stiill not be on the future, or it's just an issue that will be fixed in a future release. If this is the case, when.

    Diego.-
