I should also say that if you get these to play and to extract snapshots today, there is no guarantee the format will stay exactly the same and that you will be able to do it at some later time. SO there is some risk involved on your part that you should be aware of.

Thanks. What we are trying to do is build an administrative/testing interface with the first screenshot and the last screenshot of the video. We are testing with a timestamp on the video so that we are certain the nDVR is working (the right show is being recorded and there are no malfunctions). If Wowza had an administration interface, we would probably not need to do this. As a result, we are trying to use it "within the nDVR", and essentially add a function that is not built in. Might I suggest you build an api for this if you can't advise how it can be opened?

I am a bit surprised here, because I did not have the understanding that the Wowza file formats were proprietary. This "custom atom" thing is confusing.
