Why Wowza must be installed under root user?

Hi guys.

Do you have any idea about why Wowza must be installed under root user?

Ok, lets assume that root access is mandatory for some reasons, then I have another question:
Does it make sense to allow ordinary users start/stop Wowza server?

how can I install wowza server via non root user to some user dir(user.home, for example)?

Alex,

On Windows you can change the install location during install. On Linux you should be able to move it, or at least symlink to other locations.

I can move it in case of it's already installed. But is it possible to install wowza via non root user(Linux OS)?

I try to install wowza via non root user and I got this error:

Install Location:
/usr/local/WowzaMediaServer

To enter license key:
cd /usr/local/WowzaMediaServer/bin
./startup.sh

Hi
/usr/local/ is a root owned location.
So install as root then change the owner of that location to the user you want it to run as.
