Problem running ami-dcba68b5 on a m1.medium instance

I would prefer this instance size since the alternative c1.medium is more expensive and the extra CPU performance is underutilized.

Unable to launch image ami-dcba68b5 as the product code 8ED157F9 is not supported for the specified region, instance type and operating system combination.

For that AMI you have select "US East" Region and use one of the supported as listed in the tables here:

Windows is not supported with these AMIs.

Is there a reason why the m1.medium instance is not enabled for this ami? I understand the instance type was recently released. Is there a plan to enable it?

Yes, recent release is the reason. It probably will not be added until the next update of Wowza EC2 AMIs.
