Thread: Hopefully simple question on licensing

Default Hopefully simple question on licensing

Here is what we do not understand about the licensing.

We will have several live streams that will be served from our server. We will not allow other web sites to use our streams, they will only originate from our server. Can we get a perpetual license?
We are also planning for growth and will need edge servers and load balancing. As I understand it, we will need additional licenses for each edge server, correct? Also, what is the cost for the load balancing addon?

Is this question related to # of input streams?

"As I understand it, we will need additional licenses for each edge server, correct?"

You will need one license for each copy/installation of Wowza. One instance of Wowza can have multiple origin and/or edge applications. For example, one instance of Wowza on a server can be both an Origin and and Edge. Another instance of Wowza can be just an edge. This requires only 2 licenses.

"Also, what is the cost for the load balancing addon?"
It's a free Wowza module. (It's quite simple)

No this for type of license. Can we get perpetual or do we need monthly? Streaming is for our business to stream content to customers. We do not stream for other companies.

You can get a daily, monthly or a perpetual license depending on what works best for you financially. If you are streaming every day, perpetual is the best deal.

What are other web sites doing, "...not allow other web sites to use our streams, they will only originate from our server" ?

This really a question for Sales. Write to sales@wowza.com with more detail about the business case to see if you qualify for Perpetual license.
