    Default h264 Live Encoder Settings

    Hi,

I'm doing a project that requires live transcoding of a rtsp stream (option of h263 or mpeg4-part 2) to h264(mpeg4 part 10) for the wowza server. I am experimenting with vlc to do the transcoding.

At the moment the input stream is coming into vlc at about 350kbps but the output to wowza is only about 40kbps and the quality is not very good.

Does anyone have any ideas what encoder settings to use to try an improve the quality. Bandwidth from vlc to wowza is not an issue as they are local and the server is windows server 2003, dual quad core 1.6Ghz with 4GB memory so it should be up to the task.

    Roger.
