Thread: Outbound RTSP

  1. #1

    Default Outbound RTSP

I am trying to connect to akamai stream via RTSP, however when I follow the instructions on the forum, the server continues to try and connect outbound via 1935 instead of 554 and gets connection refused. My URL is rtsp://xxxx

I know I am missing a config somewhere just not able to find it.

    Thanks,
    /Robert

http://www.wowzamedia.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7583 is the thread that Charlie gave me and then in other posts he let me know that we had to use RTSP instead of the default http string that akamai gives. I confirmed that change of the http to rtsp forces the stream to rtsp. Once I put the URL in the stream file it trys to make connection via 1935 so I forced :554 on the url and it then gives error of time out instead of connection refused.

    Thanks for any help

    I think you need to add 554 to /conf/VHost.xml /HostPort /Port. Change "1935" to "1935,554"

    Yep,

I did that already, should have mentioned it, looks like that is just for incoming to the server. This is for the server to go out and get the stream from Akamai.

    Thanks

So the latest that I am finding out is that they are Windows Media streams that are being sent via RTSP, it was my understanding from Charlie is that they would work as long as the protocol is compatible. Is that not the case? Just want to make sure we get them correct coming from Akamai, this works fine with WMS.

    Thanks

Anything coming from Windows Media will most likely not work. We really don't support anything coming from the Windows Media system.

Is this true even when it is coming from Akamai RTSP streams that are also available for Windows Media?

    Thanks

Sorry but can you back up and describe in detail your setup? What codecs are being used? What encoders are being used? \

In general we can only handle H.264/AAC over RTSP/RTP.
