Thread: Virtual streams setting

  1. Default Virtual streams setting

    Hi

First question of many I think. I've looked around a bit but can't find an immediate answer to the question on how to setup a virtual stream folder. Essentially I want to record and play streams from a common folder that may be anywhere on the server. How can I do this? Is it possible with Wowza?

    Thanks

You set the content folder per application in /conf/[appname]/Application.xml /StorageDir

If you do not have an application specific configuration, change the default configuration file: /conf/Application.xml

Can I set more than one virtual folder? Or is it limited to just one? What if I don't want to use that but instead just use the default folder but sometimes use a "virtual" folder?

Thanks for the quick response Richard.

It's one per Application. Each application can use a different location. But a single application has one content location.

oh, that's a shame, virtual folders are so handy. Do you have any plans to get something like that in for the future?

    Thanks again Richard.

You can use subfolders of the content location, but just one root location.

Also you can use mapped or mounted drive or unc path to other server location as StorageDir.

On Linux I think a subfolder of the content location could be a symlink to another folder.
