Wowza and SIDSA Collaborate to Deliver Integrated WebTV and MobileTV Solutions for Broadcasters

EVERGREEN, CO, July 20, 2010—Wowza Media Systems, the media server software company, announced today that SIDSA, a Madrid, Spain based international provider of audiovisual technology for broadcasters and network operators has integrated its highly touted digital TV products portfolio with Wowza Media Server 2 to extend the reach of customers’ digital content to new Internet and mobile audiences.

“Our mission is to provide our customers with cutting edge multimedia technology and turnkey solutions to build their businesses with confidence and speed,” said J.M. Insenser, CEO of SIDSA. “Our collaboration with Wowza stays true to that mission as the performance, extensibility and flexibility of Wowza servers provide our customers exactly what they need to enable effortless delivery of their digital content to eager new Internet and mobile TV audiences.”

SIDSA, whose global customers include Spain's Telefonica, RTVE, and Axion, Italy's RAI, Russia's OTB, and many others, achieved proven interoperability between Wowza Media Server 2 and its EtherTV gateways and Karina encoders. The SIDSA EtherTV gateway introduces digital broadcasting services directly into LAN environments to distribute live broadcast TV and radio across IP networks, and the Karina is a real-time encoder purpose-built for digital and IPTV systems.

Wowza’s unified media server enables SIDSA customers to reach larger Internet and mobile audiences without having to resort to multiple costly proprietary technologies. This integrated approach provides a single platform capable of simultaneously delivering video and/or audio from a single encoded source to a multitude of clients and devices, including Flash®, Silverlight®, and QuickTime™, IPTV set-top boxes, as well as the world’s leading video-friendly mobile devices including Android™ and Blackberry® phones, as well as the Apple® iPhone® and iPad®.

“SIDSA has a proven record in TV distribution over IP and in the emerging WebTV and MobileTV markets that present a tremendous global opportunity for both companies,” said Dave Stubenvoll, CEO and co-founder, Wowza Media Systems. “The combination of SIDSA digital TV products and the Wowza Media Server technology lets broadcasters take advantage of the rapidly evolving online TV consumption trends.”
