Wowza Media Systems to Discuss Multiscreen Video Delivery Strategies at InfoComm 2012

EVERGREEN, Colo. — June 5, 2012 — Wowza Media Systems, LLC, the “Any Screen Done Right™” media server software company, today announced that Wowza Vice President of Product Management Chris Knowlton will deliver an educational session as part of InfoComm University’s conference track at next week’s InfoComm 2012. The session will take place on Friday, June 15 from 8:00-10:00 a.m.

The discussion will focus on the possibilities afforded by multiscreen delivery of media as consumer demand for content “anytime anywhere” continues to grow. For AV and IT managers in corporate facilities, educational institutions, and houses of worship, as well as other content providers, any-screen delivery of streamed content is both a new opportunity to maximize audience reach and a challenge when it comes to jumping in cost-effectively. This session will detail the technical hurdles to IP video delivery for Web, mobile, and IPTV viewers, and — more importantly — affordable strategies for surmounting those hurdles. Attendees will learn how to take advantage of streaming media technology to leverage the revenue potential of multiscreen media delivery cost-effectively, as well as how to future-proof media delivery to take advantage of emerging technologies and demands.

“It is common knowledge that IP video delivery is a priority for technology managers. To be a reality, it has to be efficient and reasonably priced,” Knowlton said. “During the session, I plan to address successful strategies for building a streaming media infrastructure for reaching the ever-increasing number of video-capable devices and the diversity of playback technologies and protocols. I look forward to sharing my views and experiences to help the audience navigate today’s challenging content-delivery ecosystem.”

A recognized streaming media authority with more than 22 years of engineering and product management experience, Knowlton spent many years at Microsoft® planning and executing the company’s on-premises and cloud media server product roadmaps. He also led cross-divisional and partner efforts to build the broader Microsoft Media Platform ecosystem. For his customer passion and contributions to advancing the streaming media industry, Knowlton was named a “2011 Streaming Media All-Star” by Streaming Media magazine. Before joining Microsoft in 2002, he held roles at NetApp and several Tier 1 automotive suppliers. Knowlton holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University.
