It’s awesome to be recognized by our peers! The Boulder and Denver Software Clubs recently named Wowza the 2015 People’s Choice winner in the Pitchers category (made up of companies with more than 50 employees on LinkedIn), plus awarded us with second place in the Judge’s Choice contest. These awards are especially meaningful because we're in business to help others succeed; we're overjoyed at the voters' message that we're on the right track.

It’s time for another release of Wowza Streaming Engine software! This version is packed full of innovative new features. Our philosophy is to write solid code and release often. Sometimes our releases are small, with just a few enhancements or fixes, and other times they include industry-changing breakthroughs—or at least we hope so. The Wowza Streaming Engine engineering team has been hard at work since our last release and we are very excited to share with you what is available in version 4.2.

Look across enterprise, media, entertainment, and, of course, the consumer space—it's evident that live streaming is exploding. Use cases including webcasting, distance learning, live events of every flavor, and personal broadcasting are hitting the headlines. And inevitably, providers are working to build these capabilities into their offerings. Delivering live streaming well is easier said than done. Live is difficult. Complexities include managing bandwidth, formats, latency, and changing conditions.

I was recently invited to be a panelist at the SVG College Sports Summit in Atlanta, Georgia, to discuss how the over-the-top (OTT) and TV Everywhere era has put content in viewers' hands—no matter where they are or what devices they're using. To quote from the panel description, “whether your fans are on their laptop, using a streaming media device hooked up to their television, or checking their smartphone, is your channel everywhere it needs to be?”

For more than two years Wowza Streaming Engine has been certified by Akamai to publish directly to the Akamai CDN. And now we're very excited to announce that the certification required to use Wowza Streaming Engine with Akamai Media Services Live has been expanded to make interoperability even easier.
