VoD from Network Share not working - why?

Follow-up to this post: Play files from network share / SAN

After doing this and restarting service, I have:

/conf/myapp/Application.xml with StorageDir set to \server\share\ …

However in the error logs I’m still seeing errors of File Not Found, with path being C:\Program Files … etc. How or why would this setting not take effect?

You can restart Wowza to be sure the application is reloaded.

Hi,

After mapping (or accessing) your network share, can you copy a file from that location to your local computer, using Windows Explorer?

Did you check that your system has access to the network location?

Hi,

Using Wowza with a trial license should not cause any problems in using your network storage. There are no restrictions on the location of your content folder.

Can you please create a ZIP archive containing your Wowza conf/ and logs/ folders and send them to support@wowza.com so we can take a closer look at your setup.

Please make sure to reference this forum post in your support ticket.

Another thing you can try is to configure the Media Cache functionality using a File source, as described in the “How to scale video on demand streaming with Media Cache” forum article. Here is the direct link to the description on how to configure a Media Cache File source.

Hello,

I am trying the same thing for VoD from network share. I am getting error “Content Directory does not exist.” when starting application on wowza server http interface.

I have set StorageDir to \server\share\ but I can see error “The main application configuration has warnings.” “Content Directory does not exist.”

I am sure that I have access to network share folder. I have tried by mapping network drive to network share but resulted in same error.

I have restarted wowza and my system as well but same error.

Can you suggest me if you were able to setup wowza for VoD from network share.

Thanks

Jatinder

Yes , I am able to copy from mapped drive and copy to mapped drive.

Currently I am using the evaluation (trial) version of wowza. Is that the problem ?

Will appreciate your help on this.
