Stream Reconnect

Does Wowza 2 work with the new Stream Reconnect feature of Flash 10.1.53.64 ?

The changelog for Flash 10.1.53.64 says :

Stream reconnect:

· (Requires FMS 3.5.3 server)

· Stream reconnect allows an RTMP stream to continue to play through the buffer even if the connection is disrupted, thereby making media experiences more tolerant of short term network failures and enabling non-disruptive video playback. When a connection is re-established the stream resumes playback. Developers can add re-connection logic in ActionScript to re-establish server connection and resume streaming without any disruption in the video.

We do not support this feature at this time. We may in the future. We have no timeline for adding this feature.

Take a look at JW Player and its Live Stream Reconnect plugin

Charlie/Richard, can you confirm if this feature has been implemented since this post please?

When I try carrying out stream reconnect tests against Wowza 3 using an OSMF based player, I get the following error:

Fri Apr 13 2012 09:13:18 AM.849 [INFO] [org.osmf.net.NetLoader] Stream reconnect: Calling reconnectNetConnection to try to reconnect…

Fri Apr 13 2012 09:13:19 AM.876 [INFO] [org.osmf.net.NetLoader] Stream reconnect: onNetStatus: NetConnection.Connect.Success

Fri Apr 13 2012 09:13:19 AM.877 [INFO] [org.osmf.net.NetLoader] Stream reconnect: FMS version 3,5,7,7009

Fri Apr 13 2012 09:13:19 AM.880 [DEBUG] [TVC2WebPlayer] TVCNetStream.attach() method called.

Fri Apr 13 2012 09:13:19 AM.882 [DEBUG] [org.osmf.net.NetLoader] Stream reconnect: closing the old (bad) NetConnection

Error: Error #2154: The NetStream Object is invalid. This may be due to a failed NetConnection.

at flash.net::NetStream/onResult()

The net connections have been recycled with the new one being binded to the net stream but the exception being raised by the NetSream/onResult() handler appears to be in response to the attachement to Wowza.

Are you aware of any issues with stream reconnection?

Thanks,

Richard

Get stucked at the same problem. Any hints to do automatic reconnect?
