I’m trying to setup a wowza repeater, but I think the wowza repeater is not build for the setup that I would like. So let me explain the setup and what I would like:
Origin setup:
2 applications:
The data application, it’s a “data only” application, rtmp connections with functionality (like chat/etc)
The stream application, it’s a “mostly” stream application, I say mostly, because some server functionality is there for stream selection, etc. It can’t work without the data app running on the same server and can’t work without rtmp authentication.
Both applications have server side code to check user authentication (some users can do more than others). The app instances are used for different sessions and are dynamic (and part of the authentication). The stream application has multiple incoming streams which are selected as ‘outgoing’ stream by the data application. It only has ‘one’ outgoing stream (multiple versions of that stream, but only one stream).
Now in theory it’s not required for the data-only app to be repeated, we could always go to the origin server for that. But it is required that the streamer app is repeated, but for that to work the rtmp calls also need to be forwarded from the repeater to the origin server (and visa versa). I’ve googled and googled but I’m not sure how to set this up.
Unless I’m mistaken, the repeater doesn’t repeat RTMP calls (not like edge/origin from adobe)? How could I get this setup repeated? Any solution (including out of the box solutions) is welcome.
