servers comparison

can you help me to answer to my tech department who’s asking why not using only helix server for flash client applications connection instead of having also wowza?

I know that wowza and helix are completely different, what should I add?

Here are a few reasons:

  • Helix doesn’t support RTMPE (secure streaming)

  • Helix doesn’t support interactive Flash streaming (chat, RSO, etc)

  • Wowza delivers better performance - you can get up to 10Gbps of streaming throughput from a single Wowza server

  • You get excellent free online support from Wowza

  • The Wowza server supports more streaming protocols (see http://www.wowza.com/specs.html)

  • The Wowza servers have much lower total cost of ownership (TCO)

Hope this helps.

Alex

Love it! Thanks a ton for the support.

Charlie

Hi ken72utalk,

Certainly from your presence on the forums, you’re quite familiar with the product, so I assume you’re up to speed on all the different things it can do.

I would encourage your tech department to review what other companies are saying about their use of our software. The first place to check is our recent press release web page with new information from companies like SIDSA, Mirror Image Internet, NetDNA.com, GS Neotek, NetroMedia, and LifeSize. These are posted here: http://www.wowza.com/pressrelease.html

I would especially point you to the tests results reported in the Mirror Image PR and the trust companies like GS NeoTek put in their Wowza Server installation during the FIFA 2010 World Cup.

Further evidence of why many customers are choosing to run the Wowza Server is posted here: http://www.wowza.com/testimonials.html

If you’d like to chat via Skype and talk about this further, my ID is “WowzaJohnATX”

Yours,
