Need a buffer on live stream

Hey guys,

I’m attempting to attach a buffer (of any size) to a live stream for smoother playback. However, I get continuously bombarded with buffer empty and buffer full events and the playback is terrible.

I’ve seen people mention putting buffers on live streams on various posts, I’m just not sure why it’s not working for me.

I’m streaming live audio, not video if it makes any difference.

Try reducing the stream bitrate, that’s what will help

It can be on the encoder side too, bad connection there. You can use this to look at bandwidth on the encoder connection

Is the encoder on a wireless connection? That can be a problem

Hey Richard,

Thanks for the quick response. I thought the same thing, and reduced the bitrate all the way down to 32KBps, and still no dice. My download speed is around 17mbps (NY). Any insight? What else could it be? This is really driving me crazy…

Hey Richard,

We’re not using an encoder, we’re pushing the bytes from an Mp3 in real-time to a live stream. My latency is averaging around 50ms for both the sending and receiving streams.
