Transcoder Not Working

Good morning,

We currently are using Wowza to ingest and serve out live streams using h264 and flash. We would like to use the transcoder to overlay some information over a stream so we looked at the following article for help setting up the transcoder.

https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-set-up-and-run-wowza-transcoder-for-live-streaming#video

Transcoder seems to be enabled but when I go to “incoming streams” only the default stream shows. Also note that enabling the transcoder actually makes the default stream unviewable using our normal flash player methods.

http://prntscr.com/4svqee

How do I move forward and troubleshoot this issue? Not quite sure where to go from here and would appreciate any assistance!

EDIT 1 Added more information

Wowza Streaming Engine 4.0.1

Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition

Java SE Development Kit 7 Update 1 (64-bit)

Java SE Development Kit 7 Update 51 (64-bit)

Java 7 Update 51 (64-bit)

Checked out the error log and this error shows up for the stream I am trying to transcode.

WARN	server	comment	2014-10-08	13:13:10	-	-	-	-	-	3.891	-	-	-	-	-	-	-	-	REST API: Server request (GET): Resource not found-404: http://localhost:8087/v1/server/vhosts/_defaultVHost_/applications/alias/instances

Put the error in

so it wouldn't become a link.
Looks like it might have an issue with the path for transcoding?
I have been looking through the access logs and error logs some more and following the troubleshoot steps on this page.

I have gotten down to Test #4 step 3b. The logs never show the server trying to load the template files. Any idea how to help the server load them?

I have tried some initial testing and am still stumped and would like to share more information.

First to test I downloaded the Wowza Streaming Engine and installed it locally on a different system and tested and my stream settings and application settings seem to allow the transcoder to work on the fresh installation. However the transcoder still doesn’t show the other incoming streams on the production server we are using. Again the application and stream settings are the same.

I am using Flash Live Media Encoder to send the stream to the server. I use h264 for video and mp3 for audio.

If anyone has any thoughts on this or suggestions or questions please let me know.

Hi,

This will now be handled in the ticket created (105640).

Thanks,

Jason

Hi,

Are you running your Wowza server on a 64-bit Windows or Linux OS environment? Do you also have the 64-bit Java installation?

Please note that the Transcoder addon only works in a 64-bit environment. Also, the Transcoder addon is not supported on MacOS .

Zoran

Hi,

Can you open a support tictet by writing an email to support@wowza.con and send a ZIP archive containing your Wowza conf/, logs/ and transcoder/ folders.

Please provide as much detail as possible about your current setup and also point to this forum thread as reference.

Zoran

I decided to create a new live application to test if maybe my application.xml file is bad. The new live application doesn’t work with transcoder either. Keep in mind the original stream doesn’t work anymore and no transcoded streams appear. Here is a copy of my application.xml file.
