RTMPS Performance - Client Memory Leak/Flash Player Crashing

I’m wondering if anyone else is suffering client crashes or performance issues using RTMPS to deliver a live stream. Since we’ve began testing it, we are noticing extremely high and growing memory usage when playing an RTMPS stream in Chrome. After about 20 minutes the Flash Player crashes. The more movement in the video the worse it gets.

In Chrome’s Developer Tools you can see rapid and large numbers of X-FCS requests being made that do not appear with RTMP.

Steps to replicate.

  1. View a live RTMPS stream with lots of motion in Chrome on Windows desktop.

  2. Open Chrome’s Developer Tools and click the Network tab to monitor ALL network traffic.

  3. Open task manager and monitor the memory usage of the Chrome processes.

  4. Note the growing memory usage until such a point the Flash Player crashes which in our testing is between 20-40 minutes depending on the amount of activity in the live stream.

Again, we don’t see this issue with RTMP, only RTMPS.

Thanks for your help.
