Wowza currently supports scc, srt, vtt and ttml. Scc is 608 only, and 708 captions in srt, vtt, and ttml is kind of vague. Of those three, Adobe Premiere only supports srt and maybe ttml (Adobe references xml). MCC is the MacCaption format that specifically supports 708 captions, and is supported by Adobe. MacCaption is currently owned by Telestream,and they have declared the mcc format an “open specification and free for any hardware or software manufacturer to use.” You can request the mcc specification on Telestream’s website. Can support for MCC sidecar be added to Wowza?
