How do I use smil playlist to play ABR content by refering to the .m3u8 or .mpd files

I have transcoded files stored in an Amazon S3. Each video has a .m3u8 and a .mpd file. I need to server the content thru WMS in the form of a playlist that also takes advantage of the ABR. I have read and followed :-

But in the SMIL file shown, the content referred to is .mp4 . My raw .mp4 is too large and I want to use the transcoded files instead. So how is the .m3u8 or the .mpd used in a SMIL playlist. Thanks

Wowza Engine supports the following file types for VOD ingest:

Video and audioFLV (Flash Video—.flv)
MP4 (QuickTime container—.mp4, .f4v, .mov, .m4v, .mp4a, .3gp, & .3g2)
.ismv, .isma
MP3 (.mp3)
