We would like to use a single video file archive (content directory) to feed both a live (linear) application and a VOD application on the same server. I have tested this configuration and was able to access the same video file simultaneously with the live and VOD applications, so it appears they do non-blocking reads. Are there any known issues with this configuration?

By default all newly created applications in Wowza Engine will use the same directory for content, this is built in to the basic functionality of Wowza.
In regards to known issues, you can check those here.
The only issue that could arise if there are too many requests for the same file and the disk read speed is unable to keep up.
