There is clear marketing information for Wowza highlighting broadcast capability to various VR headsets. However, have any of you actually been successful viewing an RTMP stream with an Oculus Rift?
Wowza is amazing. What a fantastic tool! We have 2 cameras stitched using Vahana VR and streaming out using Wowza Streaming Engine. We can see/hear the stream remotely using an RTMP browser player such as HLS Player (https://www.hlsplayer.net/rtmp-player). However, we have found no good live-streaming player for the Rift.
We’ve attempted this with both Open VR Player and DEOVR, both available on the Oculus store, and with Whirligig from SteamVR. Nothing works! At best, we get some stuttering audio and a horribly pixelated & distorted frozen video stream which changes once every 5-10 seconds.
Any guidance all of you could offer would be wonderfully appreciated! Why does the RTMP stream show up beautifully in HLS Player, but cannot function via the Rift?
