Error Handling and Notification Email for Failed Streams

Description of Work

We are re-streaming IP Cameras in a Daycare monitoring environment. Right now when a camera is unreachable it errors out and the system keeps trying to connect to it, causing bandwidth and connection issues. I would like to have someone to add functionality to do the following:

  • Count how many times a camera errors in X minutes

  • After X minutes with Y counts or it being errored, the stream should go offline and display an image in the client showing that the camera is offline; we will provide the offline image.

  • The System Admins will be notified via email that X Camera for Y Daycare is offline; the email should repeat every hour until the camera stream is back online or the camera stream no longer exists; I would also like the email to include any information that has potential to resolve the issue

  • Once the admin has fixed the issue there should be a button that we can press to have the system try and reconnect to the stream; on success the stream will reconnect and display once more; if failed, it goes through the process again.

    Operating System

We are using Windows Server 2008 on EC2 in Amazon Web Services Cloud. I already have setup some integrations with a web service call using ASP.Net.

    Delivery Date

We would like this fully implemented by October 15, 2013

    Budget

We do not have a set budget in place.

Please contact me as soon as possible with any additional questions; it vital that we get this piece up and running as soon as possible.

Hi Gabriel

The actions that you would like to incorporate are easily attainable, but I would like to know a bit more about the issues you are having while connecting to the camera’s. Whether it is network conditions, stream health or simply hours of operation would dictate how to proceed most efficiently. I am available at caoin@hotmail.com if you would like to step forward. I am located in the New England area and am currently available.
