License proxy - Encrypted password - Linux

I was reading the following guide:

I do not want to store the password in plain text. Is there any way to avoid this?

Here is an article that can enable SSL on the manager UI:

https://www.wowza.com/docs/How-to-configure-security-using-Wowza-Streaming-Engine-Manager

Other than that, that is the only option we have for security.
