Trancode depending on the input

So if I have I 720p input I would expect the transcoder to transcode to several bitrates and resolutions,

for example to 720p, 360p, and 240p. If I were to have insteed a 360p input the transcoder would sill transcode to 720p, 360p and 240p.

Is there a way to limit the bitrates output depending on input?

Hello,

We don’t currently have a way to detect the source resolution and select the template file based on this. Instead for these situations, we normally would recommend that you set the transcoder “Fallback Template” to the best match for most sources. Then use the “Match source stream name to template name” to handle any sources that have different source resolutions.
