Minimum Hardware Specification (On-Premise)

Hi,

May I know the minimum hardware required for an on-premise Wowza Streaming Engine with 1 incoming HD (1080p) stream and will have 100 outgoing (1080p HD) streams. Practically, the server will serve as an edge. There will be no transcoding; it will be used for distribution only.

You can find the hardware requirements at https://www.wowza.com/products/streaming-engine/specifications and a sizing recommendation guide at https://www.wowza.com/blog/4-tips-for-sizing-streaming-server-hardware. I’ve been able to stream 600+ RTMP connections on a VM that’s 2 sockets/4 cores of Xeon E5-2690 @ 2.6Ghz. 1080p with no transcoding. Working on moving to HLS, but don’t have any good numbers for that yet.
