Bad audio in transcoded HLS

We’ve got a problem that’s a somewhat similar to the one reported a while ago:

We send a RTP live stream to Wowza with h.264 video an aac audio. Everything seems to work fine when I test the stream with RTMP, Adobe HDS or even MPEG Dash. But for some reason the audio in the transcoded HLS stream has a much lower volume, I’d guess about 20% of the original. Also the audio seems to be a bit choppy. We’ve never had such problems when ingesting the stream using RTMP. I’ve already tried to change the audio codec to Vorbis or Opus, but wasn’t able to get that running yet. Any hints or ideas?
