Please let me know the steps to update the java from 1.0.8 to java 9 for wowza update 4.7.8. in cent os 7.

Hi John, To date we have done this on 3 of our WSE implementations (4.7.7) on Centos 7 without issue. I might not be 100% the right SME to comment, but I am willing share my experiences. We downloaded Java 9 via the link provided by Wowza, unzipped it in the same directory as the existing JRE, updated the sym link used by WSE, stopped WSE, and ran the updater to 4.7.8. We did have to start/restart WSE after the update. It was thankfully that simple. Make sure the path for the folders / references are correct, in one of our implementations I messed that up, aka pointing to the correct level. The updater for WSE will let you know if it detects the correct version of Java. I deleted the Win and OSX stuff in the 4.7.8 updated release when I unzipped it to our server. Thanks for the update. Here i am little bit confused. May i know the exact path you copied then java 9 components. Earlier I did the same but java version not updated in CentOS 7 when i run java -version it shows java 1.0.8 old version only and i am unable to update the wowza to 4.7.8

Hi John, Not an issue. Did you update the symbolic link used for WSE to reference Java? That is key. Out of the box, WSE put the Java files in the /usr/local/WowzaStreamingEngine directory. Update the java ->/usr/local/WowzaStreamingEngine/jre symbolic link to use your new Java library. Once completed the 4.7.8 updater will work. Does that make sense?
