nDVR recording on RAM

Hi

I’m using Wowza Streaming Engine 4.0.4 and i want to enable Time-shift Function on my live Streams over HLS

My problem is HDD I/O when there are many concurrent users connect to my nDVR HLS streams

I would like to know if its possible to catch the live streams on RAM instead of HDD to improve the performance and increasing concurrent users connecting to my stream server.

how can i do it in my Origin and edge Server ?

thanx

Take a look at this article on using MediaCache on nDVR edge servers. This will reduce the load on the origin by caching nDVR chunks on the edge.

Richard

If you have plenty of memory and a relatively small store, you could create a tmpfs file system and use that for your nDVR or Media Cache store. The only downside is that you will lose the current files when the server is rebooted.

Roger.

Thanks for your replies

I have 25 Streams and want to enable 1 Hour time shift on all of them

because of 25 streams recording my origin HDD has became slow

I have 32GB RAM on origin and 32GB on edges and i can increase the amount of System RAM if its needed

what is your recommendation for best Media cache configuration on my origin and edge server?
