HLS with fMP4 for VOD assets

Hi,

any plans to support HLS+fMP4 for VOD assets? Correct me if I’m wrong, but currently there is no way to stream HEVC (4K) VOD content over HLS to iOS/tvOS clients from Wowza as it (Wowza) only support HLS+TS for VOD and Apple only supports fMP4 for HEVC. Currently HLS+fMP4 is supported only for CMAF for live streams.

Hi @Michal_Vanco thanks for asking and you are correct that is the current status. But, we do have plans to add that option in 2023, We have some transcoder updates to make first before we can, but when I get an ETA, I’ll let you know. I wouldn’t look for it until as least mid-2023 to be honest,
