Streaming Hour Limitation

Hi,

May i know how long maximum the stream can run continuously? i plan to run stream continuously for 6 month. is it doable and which account can support this?

Thanks.

On Wowza Streaming Engine, the stream can theoretically continue forever until you stop it. There’s no special account or license require for it. On Wowza Video (previously Wowza Cloud), you may want to contact their customer service to discuss because I think they have a special pricing tier for 24/7 streams.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Anyway, i am currently setup a live stream with trial license. However, when up to some hour of streaming, the streaming suddenly idle. where can i tweak this setting so the stream will run without idle. or is there anything that cause the stream goes to idle state?

If you need any further information regarding my current stream setup i’m happy to share it so you understand the situation.

Thanks.

Your stream should never stop out of itself. Maybe it’s because your input is unstable? Check the Wowza logs to see if there are any related messages logged around the time the stream stops.

How do i check the wowza log? i’ve been searching for the log didn’t find it. i am new to wowza so not familiar with the interface.

Thanks

Personally I prefer to check the log files directly in the /logs subfolder of the Wowza Streaming Engine installation. But there’s also a way to check the logs via the Engine Manager website; you must first choose “Server” from the top menu, then it’s somewhere in the left menu.

ok sure i will check. later once got resolved i will share the feedback here. thanks for your time

Duration of transmission - does not matter. We support multiple IP cameras operating 24/7
Interruption will occur when your source is unstable /weak internet connection, etc/.

You plan to run a stream on a Streaming Engine trial for 6 months @Muhamad_Fitri? Perhaps you meant to test only?

There are limitations and watermarks with a trial, so you’ll need a paid license and pricing plans are HERE for you to consider. The Trial is really designed for testing only, not production. In a trial there are not only limitations, but watermarks. As far as the stream dropping, I agree with the comments above, this could be a network issue or you need to tune your Engine server and Java in order to have enough memory. I can share the link for that right HERE

If you’re not familiar with the Engine trial limitations, you can read them in link below in case that is part of why your stream/ streams are dropping as well. I can try and help diagnose as well, but please share more about the source you are sending to Engine…for example: protocol, codecs, bitrates, etc. Thanks.

Also, here is the article on how to check the logs in Streaming Engine.

Since you are new to Wowza, feel free to spend some time using our search bar in forums, docs and main website. We have a lot of documentation if you type it in the search bar. You can also send in a support ticket even though you are only on a trial at the moment.

Hi,

Thanks you for your answer it really2 help me. Now i have a stream with 12 inbound (stream profile) and 1 outbound (stream profile). which paid account can support this? Can i just subscribe basic account or need enterprise account to do this?

Thanks.

No you do not need an enterprise account. As far as which plan you don’t want to pay for what you don’t need, but you need just enough so viewers have good playback experience. I don’t know the pricing plans in detail, but I will say that we do have sales engineers that will ask more questions about your servers, bandwidth. etc, and they will suggest the best plan that makes sense.
