Unable to update Wowza on AWS EC2

I’m attempting to update Wowza on AWS EC2 instance.
Current version: 4.8.5
When attempting to apply the 4.8.13 update I encounter the following:

Verifying Java 9 or greater is available
Found Java version: '1.8.0_272' at path: '/bin/java'
Wowza Streaming Engine 4.7.8 requires a Java 9 or greater VM to be installed.
Before attempting to run the server, please install a Java 9 compatible VM.
Wowza Streaming Engine won't start without a Java version between 9 and 12.

The instructions do not mention anything related to verifying Java versions, etc. Furthermore, I am confidently attempting to apply the WowzaStreamingEngine-Update-4.8.13+1, yet the message makes mention of version 4.7.8?

Any guidance on updating AWS EC2 image instances would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
