Manage your ClearCaster simulcast targets

You can use the Wowza ClearCaster™ appliance for Facebook Live video broadcasting as a video source for live streaming with the Wowza Streaming Cloud™ service. This way, you can simultaneously broadcast (simulcast) your stream to Facebook and to a Wowza Streaming Cloud hosted webpage, a custom target, or a Wowza CDN edge resource. This article describes how to manage your simulcast targets.

Notes: For the purposes of this article, you must have already created a Wowza ClearCaster broadcast. For more information, see Simulcast a Wowza ClearCaster Live Stream on Facebook Live and Wowza Streaming Cloud.

See a list of your simulcast targets

The Simulcast page in Wowza ClearCaster Manager displays a list of all the simulcast targets currently available to associate with your broadcasts.

The list provides the following information for each simulcast target:

  • Targets - The name of the simulcast target. Note that this is the same as the name of the Wowza Streaming Cloud live stream.
  • Frame Size - The frame size configured for the Wowza Streaming Cloud live stream.
  • Date Added - The date on which the simulcast target was added to Wowza ClearCaster Manager.

You can organize the list by any of these fields. Just click on the arrows next to the column header.

If you don't have any simulcast targets added to Wowza ClearCaster Manager, your list will say There is no data to display.

Start and stop the Wowza Streaming Cloud live stream

To simulcast your live stream to Facebook and Wowza Streaming Cloud, you must start the Wowza Streaming Live before you go live. When you're broadcast ends, the Facebook live stream ends automatically and the Wowza Streaming Cloud live stream will timeout after 20 minutes.

Stop the Wowza Streaming Cloud live stream

To manually end the live stream, sign in to Wowza Streaming Cloud, go to the Live Streams page, select your live stream. Click Stop Live Stream and then click Stop to confirm that you want to stop the live stream.
