Manage your Wowza ClearCaster broadcasts

This article describes how to use the Wowza ClearCaster Manager to manage your live stream broadcasts to Facebook Live, including editing, monitoring, and deleting broadcasts.

Notes: For the purposes of this article, you must have already created a Wowza ClearCaster broadcast. For more information, see Create a Wowza ClearCaster broadcast for Facebook Live.

See a list of your broadcasts

The Broadcast page in Wowza ClearCaster Manager displays a list of all broadcasts associated with your Wowza account. The list of broadcasts is organized by the three statuses a broadcast can have: Live, Preview, and Draft. The status of the broadcast determines what actions are available to you.

Live broadcasts

Live broadcasts are displayed at the top of the list for easy access.

From the Broadcast page, you can do the following for Live broadcasts:

  • Click View on Facebook to see the live stream post on Facebook and ensure everything is playing properly.
  • Click Edit to modify some broadcast details. Note that some settings can't be changed after the broadcast is live.
  • Click Make Active to manually switch between the active and backup ClearCaster devices assigned to the broadcast.
  • Monitor statistics about the health of the stream.
  • Click End Broadcast to end the live stream.

Preview broadcasts

For a broadcast to be in preview, a ClearCaster must be associated with the broadcast, and that ClearCaster must have a live video source connected.

From the Broadcast page you can do the following for Preview broadcasts:

  • Click Edit to modify any of the broadcast settings.
  • Click Delete to remove the broadcast without publishing it.
  • Click Make Active to manually switch between the active and backup ClearCaster devices assigned to the broadcast.
  • Monitor statistics about the health of the stream.
  • Click Go Live to publish the live stream.

Scheduled broadcasts

If a broadcast is scheduled on facebook.com/live/create and a ClearCaster isn't associated with the broadcast or the associated ClearCaster doesn't have a live source attached, the broadcast is displayed as Scheduled.

Note: If a ClearCaster with a live source is associated with a scheduled broadcast, the scheduled broadcast is displayed as in Preview.

From the Broadcast page you can do the following for Scheduled broadcasts:

  • Click Edit to modify any of the broadcast settings.
  • Click Delete to remove the broadcast without publishing it.

Draft broadcasts

A draft broadcast doesn't have a live video source associated with it, so there are no stream health statistics to display and you can't go live.

From the Broadcast page you can do the following for Draft broadcasts:

  • Click Edit to modify any of the broadcast settings.
  • Click Delete to remove the broadcast without publishing it.

  2. Click on the Broadcasts tab.
