• How to listen for a multicast stream on a particular network interface

    By default, a Wowza media server binds to the local network interface when joining a multicast stream. If you would like to force the Wowza media server to join using a particular network interface, edit [install-dir]/conf/VHost.xml and edit the RTP/Datagram/Incoming section like this (where [address-of-network-interface] is the local address of the network interface that you want the Wowza media server to use when joining the multicast stream):

    From:
    <!-- <MulticastBindToAddress>true</MulticastBindToAddress> -->
    <!-- <MulticastInterfaceAddress>192.168.1.22</MulticastInterfaceAddress> -->
    To:
    <MulticastBindToAddress>true</MulticastBindToAddress>
    <MulticastInterfaceAddress>[address-of-network-interface]</MulticastInterfaceAddress>
    If this does not solve the problem, then you might need to add the following property to the RTP/Properties in [install-dir]/conf/[application]/Application.xml (be sure to get the correct <Properties> container - there are several in Application.xml):

    <Property>
    	<Name>multicastInterfaceAddress</Name>
    	<Value>[address-of-network-interface]</Value>
    </Property>
    Note: Wowza Media Server 2.2.4 or greater is required.
