• How to reset a live stream repeater, SHOUTcast, or RTSP stream (MediaCaster stream)

The live stream repeater, SHOUTcast, RTSP, and native RTP streams use an internal Wowza ™ media server system called MediaCaster. A MediaCaster is an abstraction in Wowza media server software that enables a video or audio stream from another server to be re-streamed. If for some reason there are issues with a particular stream and you want to reset a single stream, you can do this by using JConsole. Follow these steps:

    1. Connect to the Wowza media server using JConsole.

    2. Click the MBeans tab.

    3. Navigate to:
      WowzaMediaServerPro/VHosts/[vhost]/Applications/[application]/ApplicationInstance/[appInstance]/MediaCasters/[mediacaster]
    4. Click on the Operations panel for this object, and then click forceReset.

Note: If you're running Wowza Streaming Engine™ software, the server items are exposed in the WowzaStreamingEngine section under the MBeans tab. You should use the following procedure:
    1. Connect to the Wowza media server using JConsole.

    2. Click the MBeans tab.

    3. Navigate to:
      WowzaStreamingEngine/VHosts/[vhost]/Applications/[application]/ApplicationInstance/[appInstance]/MediaCasters/[mediacaster]
    4. Click on the Operations panel for this object, and then click forceReset.
