    Default bookmark and resume video

we are going to implement an VOD by using mediacache. is there any way to implement bookmark and resume video playback time?

what i mean is if the user watch the video to 3:21, then stop to play. when the user play again, can we resume the time at 3:21 and continue play? our target device are iphone and android.

do we need to develop some plugin by using the wowza api? please advise. Thanks.

    Hi
Yes it is possible, if you can build a module yourself.
I believe Wowza allows this functionality.
I personally wouldn't know how to build it and cant give you the details...

You would need a client-side to this, e.g. a Flash application. You would have to know who was who, then tell Wowza when a video was stopped, and some way of persisting that info.

This example shows how to authenticate and use database connection:

For general Flash <> Wowza communications, take a look at the ServerSideModules example that ships with Wowza in the examples folder.

You will be using NetStream.time to get start time and NetConnection.call in Flash to send data to Wowza.

This might be useful to you also:

Thank you richard, you are always helpful. I get your idea, it is basically getting communicate with server that the video was stop and resume in a particular playback time.

1 more question, if I am implementing a client in android device, beside rtmp and rtsp, any other protocal that I can use for VOD ? since I am trying to avoid RTSP and flash implementation in andriod device. any other choice that you can suggest me? Thanks.

On Android 2.2+ you can use Flash RTMP or Flash HTTP (Sanjose)

For older versions of Android, you are limited to RTSP.
