Default "Buffering" shown instead of end when a live show has ended

    Hi,

I am using nDVR Recording API (as per http://www.wowza.com/forums/content....-Recording-API) to start and stop recording.

I am using OSMF player provided in wowza examples and have applied the latest wowza patches.

    Consider the below scenario :

    1. Stream stream_1 is being recorded under "recording_1" (see command used below)
    http://[wowza-ip-address]:8086/dvrst...1&action=start

    2. Player is playing "recording_1"

    3. I use below command to stop the recording
    http://[wowza-ip-address]:8086/dvrst..._1&action=stop

    4. Player shows "Buffering" and just stays there without coming to end of show.

Note : If I refresh the player, the behavious is ok. It behaves like a recorded show and starts from the beginning of the recording

There should be a dev build later today (I'll provide a link once the patch is complete) with an updated DVR OSMF example, as well as some changes to core Wowza to work a better with OSMF 1.6. This includes a fix for the problem you describe.

    Here's the patch:

Besides the lib/ bin/ changes, note there are changes to the DVR example-- both the html and the swf file (which is now OSMF 1.6)

    Hi Scott,

That worked. The show stops and the "Play" button appears as expected. However, I think on clicking the "Play" button after the live show has ended, it should start back from the beginning rather than the current position (should be similar to recorded show).

Right now, the position of the video does not change. So, if the user hits the "Play" after the recording stopped, he ends up seeing "Buffering"

I agree, but we have no control over that. That's completely the OSMF player.
I'll log a defect against OSMF on our behalf.

It is an open source project, so one option for you would be to dig into their code and change the behavior yourself. Not a siple option, but an option.
