    Default VOD streaming from url

    Hi All,

I would like wowza to stream from an url location. The video file resides on a cms. I also would like some authentication with this. How do I proceed? What do I need to accomplish this?

    Any help/hints would be appreciated.

    Kind regards,

    Victor.

    Victor,

You can use the MediaCache addon to stream static content from a web server, but it does not support authentication.

    Hi Richard,

    Thanks.

Is it also possible to achieve this creating a custom module by overriding the play method?

    Hi

No I don't think so, MediaCache is a one option for what you want there are others like,
    http://www.wowza.com/forums/content....-override-play
    for overriding the play method

For the authentication part I would use Secure Token or something like that listed here,
    http://www.wowza.com/forums/content.php?28

Then search for "authenticat" as this covers authentication and authenticate

    Victor,

I'm not sure, but I don't think so. The only MediaCache authentication that is currently supported requires S3 buckets and Wowza EC2 instance vods3 application. You could get vods3 working on a non-EC2 server, but I'm not sure about authentication to your web server/cms

You might be able to implement something in the CMS that checks a token in the querystring.
