    Default OSMF 1.6 and Live SanJose Streaming

    Hi Wowza Support Team,

    I've tried to Play a live-stream with an OSMF Player using SanJose Streaming. It's working with OSMF 1.5 (Live and OnDemand). With OSMF 1.6 live is not working, only OnDemand is playing.

    I'm testing with Wowza Media Server 2 Subscription 2.2.4 build27452.

    Here is the AS3 Code i'm using:
    package
    {
    	import flash.display.Sprite;
    	import flash.display.StageAlign;
    	import flash.display.StageScaleMode;

    	import org.osmf.elements.F4MElement;
    	import org.osmf.elements.VideoElement;
    	import org.osmf.events.MediaElementEvent;
    	import org.osmf.media.MediaPlayerSprite;
    	import org.osmf.net.StreamType;
    	import org.osmf.net.StreamingURLResource;

    	public class HTTPStreamExample extends Sprite
    	{
    		public function HTTPStreamExample()
    		{
    			super();

    			stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
    			stage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT;

    			var mediaPlayerSprite:MediaPlayerSprite = new MediaPlayerSprite();

    			var urlResource:StreamingURLResource = new StreamingURLResource("http://mywowzaserver/hds_live/_definst_/video/manifest.f4m", StreamType.LIVE); // works only with OSMF 1.5
    			//var urlResource:StreamingURLResource = new StreamingURLResource("http://mywowzaserver/hds_ondemand/_definst_/bbc_test_700.mp4/manifest.f4m", StreamType.LIVE_OR_RECORDED); // works always
    			var f4mMedia:F4MElement = new F4MElement(urlResource);

    			mediaPlayerSprite.media = f4mMedia;

    			addChild( mediaPlayerSprite );
    		}
    	}
    }
    And here is the log from OSMF 1.6.1:

    Is this an known issue? Do I have to upgrade to Wowza Server 3?

    Hi SilentBob,

    I notice that the OSMF 1.6 LiveVideoStreaming example included with Wowza 3 uses "factory.createMediaElement(urlResource)" instead of "F4MElement(urlResource);" Maybe you can take a look at the example for reference.

    Hi randall,

    Just tried with factory.createMediaElement()... Same behavior. Live is working with 1.5 but not with 1.6. The Example OSMF Player in WowzaServer 3.0.3 patch is also not working with the live-url.

  4. #4

    Default

    I am using the StreamClass example to create a live stream from sample.mp4, and it is playing just fine in the LiveOSMFPlayer using Flash-OSMF 1.6.1. You should also give this a try, as it might help narrow down the problem.

    If you can't get it sorted out, you may wish to send an email to support@wowza.com. Include a zip of your conf and logs, a link to this thread, and a link to your live stream.

  5. #5

    Default

    Applying patch 7 (2.2.4.07) did the trick... It's working now with OSMF 1.6.
