player for nDVR

Hi All,

I would like to know what the mostly used/recommended player is to connect with the nDVR application.

We are currently using FlowPlayer for streaming but apparently it doesn’t support Flash HTTP, which we will need when nDVR is integrated to our application.

I can see that Strobe is used in the Wowza DVR Example application. Is it the only option at the moment?

Thanks.

Some options:

I’ve heard that JWPlayer is or will soon be supporting Apple HLS streaming.

Strobe or OSMF player is a choice for Flash HTTP STreaming.

You can build a silverlight player (or use our example which is bare bones w.r.t. DVR seeking etc) and use smooth streaming.

There is a guide here:

Right, Wowza nDVR doesn’t work in a Flash RTMP client like JW Player

Richard

As far as I know, JW Player implements Flash RTMP Dynamic Streaming, and HTML5 fallback. If the fallback is to a Wowza playlist.m3u8 URL and a smil file, then it is Cupertino streaming. It’s not really JW Player at that point, it is the iOS device.

Richard

Pretty sure JW player does Flash RTMP dynamic streaming with HTML5 fallback. In any case, this is the Wowza forum not JW Player. We have recommended players that work with nDVR

Cupertino streaming works in iOS devices and Mac with Safari browser. Also Roku and now Android 3 browser.

Richard

It works for normal HTTP streaming using sanjose, but I’m unable to get it to work properly with the DVR. I don’t know if that’s a player or a wowza issue. I’ll keep you posted.

for HTTP streaming can take a look to:

If some one have tested please post the feedback i’ll try to do soon…

Hi Scott,

Thanks for the information.

I have checked JWPlayer and supposedly they are supporting this with their Adaptive Provider.

However, I haven’t been able to make it work. They are not particularly responsive in their forums either, so I guess I will go with the Strobe.

Thanks.

Hi Richard,

Below is the link for the thread I started in JWPlayer forums.

They are suggesting to use the Adaptive Provider. But that doesn’t seem to work with Wowza DVR.

http://www.longtailvideo.com/support/forums/jw-player/setup-issues-and-embedding/24109/jwplayer-adaptive-provider-wowza

Thanks.

But the whole point is they claim that JWPlayer supports Flash HTTP by the use of Adaptive Provider.

And that I couldn’t confirm. I believe this is not the place to discuss this as it looks like a JWPlayer problem.

On the other hand, they don’t respond in their forums…

Anyway, in case if anybody knows of a solution or has a suggestion, I’d like to hear.

Thanks.

But I am not using an iOS device. I am running a browser simply on my laptop, which is not iOS at all…

They claim HTTP Streaming is supported by the Adaptive Provider. Do you not agree?

Below is the reference manual for that module…

Thanks.
