Default Wowza Manipulation of MPEG TS for Silverlight

    Hi,

I am relatively new to Wowza and was wondering if it was possible to manipulate an incoming MPEG TS through Wowza. The TS does not contain an audio PID and, as a result, when trying to stream to Silverlight, the stream will not play. When enabling audio on the incoming MPEG TS such that an audio PID is present, Silverlight works fine. While it seems like simply enabling audio would be the easiest way to resolve this, there are other applications up the chain using the same MPEG TS that will break with the introduction of an audio PID. I would like to know if it's possible to insert audio somehow in Wowza.

I also plan on investigating whether there is something that can be done at the Silverlight level to accommodate this situation as well.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Alex,

There is not a Wowza solution for this at present.

Thanks for the reply, Richard. After I posted, I was doing some more reading and saw that Wowza uses Smooth Streaming to stream content to the Silverlight player. If no audio is present on the incoming stream to Wowza, is Wowza even capable of serving up a stream to Silverlight via Smooth Streaming? Based on your response, it appears as though Wowza can't add an audio stream if it isn't there, but can it just stream the video without the audio?

Wowza will create a Smooth manifest that does not include audio, but Silverlight won't play it. It is a limitation of Silverlight and Smooth streaming

    Hi
You can write a module to add audio if you wanted to,
either silent or music as mp3, what ever you want.
