Default How to play part of the movie at Android based device

I need to stream parts of movies both for iOS based and Android based mobile devices. If I want to play part of the movie at iOS device,
    I can use link 'http://[wowza-ip-address]:1935/vod/mp4:sample.mp4/playlist.m3u8?wowzaplaystart=30000&wowzaplayduration=40000'.
What I should do to achieve same think at Android device? The link 'rtsp://[wowza-ip-address]:1935/vod/mp4:sample.mp4?wowzaplaystart=30000&wowzaplayduration=40000' will not work.

Start and duration are not supported for RTSP. In some Android devices you can use RTMP Flash client, and others support sanjosestreaming or cupertinostreaming, all of which have start and duration capabilities. However these types of streams do not work in all Android devices/versions and results are inconsistent on the versions of Android they are supposed to work on.

So, how I can play part of the movie on Android device with link and not with embed code?

Can I set start and duration at server side using ModuleStreamNameAsAlias?

No, sorry, there is no way in Wowza with RTSP and vod streaming.

Android 2.2+ supports Flash, so you should be able to do sanjosestreaming or RTMP streaming, as I've mentioned above. Android 3 is supposed to have support for cupertinostreaming. But, again, results have been mixed.

    See 'http://vid2.anyclip.com/oQSsbm724h22u4'. It works at SonyEricson(Android 2.1), SamsungGalaxyS(Android 2.2) and iPhone3. Why I can't do similar thing in wowza?

    greenf, you can.

San Jose streaming with "playstart" works fine for me on Android 2.3.3 with Wowza 3.0.5 using the SimpleVideoStreaming/clientOSMF/bin-release/SimpleOSMFPlayer.html player in my Android browser. Like so:

    http://[wowza-ip-address]:1935/vod/mp4:sample.mp4/playlist.m3u8?wowzaplaystart=30000
However, the http link you have listed above is probably HTTP progressive download. See here for more info: http://developer.android.com/guide/a...a-formats.html

Progressive download is not supported by Wowza, but it can be done using your Web Server.

Is there any way to use SanJose as direct link and not in embed code? San Jose works for me too, but I care about few other things. First, we have several parteners that use links to our clips. So, I can perform redirect at wowza side, but I need to supply one http link both for Android and iOS. Another issue are devices with Android 2.1, but if it will be the only problem I can live with it.

No, sorry, you need a OSMF player (our example or the Adobe Strobe player) for sanjosestreaming.

Do handle different type clients you have to do some detection. Here is a good starting place:
    http://blog.ianbeyer.com/code/client...e-player-code/

Handling different versions of Android differently will probably be difficult. Consider RTSP streaming to all Android even tho some versions support Flash RTMP or sanjosestreaming (Flash HTTP), and most recent versions support cupertinostreaming but, according to reports, inconsistently.
