Default Over half minute delay during the start of the server

    Hi,

I'm having a little problem with starting the server - it's not any disaster, but a little pain in the neck.

    My server starts like that:

    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    ...
    INFO 17:10:44,949 [_Server_] Java Args[5]: -Dfile.encoding=UTF-8
INFO 17:10:44,949 [_Server_] Java GC[0]: Copy
INFO 17:10:44,949 [_Server_] Java GC[1]: MarkSweepCompact
    INFO 17:10:44,950 [_Server_] Server threads[h/t]: 10/10

    * over half minute pause... *

INFO 17:11:17,061 [_Server_] CMDInterface now listening: [any]:8084
    INFO 17:11:17,595 [_defaultVHost_]
    INFO 17:11:17,656 [_Server_] _defaultVHost_ threads[h/t]:120/80 home: %$#%@#$%#@$
INFO 17:11:17,669 [_Server_] Bind attempt ([any]:1935:4)
INFO 17:11:17,675 [_Server_] Bind successful ([any]:1935)
INFO 17:11:17,681 [_Server_] Bind attempt ([any]:8086:1)
INFO 17:11:17,688 [_Server_] Bind successful ([any]:8086)
    INFO 17:11:17,694 [_Server_] onServerInit
    ...
    ----------------------------------------------------------------

On another computer, it starts right away. Is it some license issue?

Seems weird. You did change the "home:" directory yourself, right?

Are you running an older version of Wowza? Are you running any custom modules? Maybe now is a good time to upgrade.

It is possible to backup your Wowza folder, install a new version, and see if the problem manifests. If you want to revert to the previous version, it is possible, but the steps are different depending on your OS.

What is the difference between the two Wowza installations?

Yes, I just changed the log output of home folder

That's weird because I use exactly (and I mean really exactly) the same wowza installations on both computers - I share them with Dropbox - so they are synced 1 to 1 every time I modify sth.

So I'm pretty sure it's not some problem with version of the server.

I'm using different OS'es: one is Windows 7, another is Windows XP (it is where it works fine and where I've installed it originally).

You could try getting a dev license for your dev server. I'm not familiar with this issue. I would use system tools to see what's happening: regmon, filemon, etc..

I've experienced the same issue, in one case it appeared to be the bindto multicast address specified in the conf/vhost.xml did not match any of the network adapters on the machine. I now have it again on another machine, but it appears that information is correct on that machine, so I'm looking for another cause also.
