Default Crash outOfMemory after few seconds

    Hi ,
    we'd installed a 3.0.5 on a 2.2Ghz Quad-Core AMD Opteron with 4Gb RAM running ubuntu 10.04 :

"Exception in thread "IdleWorkerUtil-0" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: unable to create new native thread
    at java.lang.Thread.start0(Native Method)
    at java.lang.Thread.start(Unknown Source)
    at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor.addWorker(Unknown Source)
    at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor.execute(Unknown Source)
    at com.wowza.wms.vhost.ThreadPool.execute(Unknown Source)
    at com.wowza.wms.httpstreamer.model.HTTPStreamerContext.onIdle(Unknown Source)
    at com.wowza.wms.util.IdleWorkerUtil.run(Unknown Source)"

According to a recend thread Need help with tuning - crashing when low free memory I had installed Java 7 and set in setenv.sh :
    JAVA_OPTS="-Xmx800M -Xms800M -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:NewRatio=1 -Xss256k -XX:+AlwaysPreTouch -XX:+CMSScavengeBeforeRemark -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:ParallelCMSThreads=2 -XX:ParallelGCThreads=2"

but still stopping after a while and without any connection !

    Hi Fabeau,

Can you post a short .log snippet, the first few pages from when you first start Wowza? We want to see all the info in the startup sequence. (could be a 32-bit issue)

Are there any other errors in your logs?

    Are you out of RAM?

It's possible you have a corrupted installation. You can rename your actual Wowza directory: WowzaMediaServer-3.0.5 to OldWowzaMediaServer-3.0.5, then reinstall, to guarantee a clean install.

    Follow the tuning guide:
    http://www.wowza.com/forums/content....ormance-Tuning

This seems low, and the -Xms value should be lower than -Xmx value.
    -Xmx800M -Xms800M

    Try:
    -Xmx3000M -Xms2000M

You're righ richard , I 'd set Xmx and Xms correctly but still got the issue.

You maybe righ, I may have not enouth memory and the hoster , 1&1 , provide ubuntu box without swap.

I'll set a fresh install right now but I was sure to intall correctly a wowza server and java 64bits.

Had you see anything in the log wich provide a better explanation ?

    Thanks

Looks like you have about 4g of ram, but less than 1g is available when you started Wowza, which indicates that this is not a dedicated Wowza server. And with that setting you are only giving Wowza/Java a small amount of RAM.

You probably need a dedicated Wowza server with 4 - 8g of ram, and tuned to utilize as much as possible for Wowza.

Yes , to be franc , I had some other processes consuming a large amount of RAM. I'd stop is and I am still in outofmemory case !

I had also do a fresh install without any progress.

You also have to increase heap size so that Wowza has access to enough memory. You have it set to -Xmx1000M. With 64bit OS/Java and 4g of RAM, you should triple that setting to -Xmx3000M

    Also check this line when you start Wowza;
INFO server comment - Hardware Physical Memory: 834MB/4096MB
If the number on the left (available memory) is too low, as this was in your previous post, then you might still have other processes using much resources. You should set heap size lower than available memory to avoid problems.

But I stop all services and I have enouth amount of RAM :
    LowTotal: 4194304 kB
    LowFree: 3616916 kB
    with only -Xmx=3000M
    At launch got:
INFO server comment - Hardware Physical Memory: 330MB/4096MB

    (only 330M!)

    And I got after a while :
Exception in thread "IdleWorkerUtil-0" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: unable to create new native thread
    at java.lang.Thread.start0(Native Method)
    at java.lang.Thread.start(Unknown Source)
    at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor.addWorker(Unknown Source)
    at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor.execute(Unknown Source)
    at com.wowza.wms.vhost.ThreadPool.execute(Unknown Source)
    at com.wowza.wms.httpstreamer.model.HTTPStreamerContext.onIdle(Unknown Source)
    at com.wowza.wms.util.IdleWorkerUtil.run(Unknown Source)

So, do you mean that RAM 4Gb is not enouth for a Wowza server ( with do nothing, I had not takes time to install and configurate my streaming services) ?
