Thread: StartupStreams not working

    Default StartupStreams not working

    Hello,

    I want streams to keep running though there is no client connection so I just added them to StartupStreams.xml but no luck.

    <StartupStream>
    <Application>applicationame/_definst_</Application>
    <MediaCasterType>liverepeater</MediaCasterType>
    <StreamName>channelname4.stream</StreamName>
    </StartupStream>

    Though I have added them to above, it stops automatically when there is no client connection.

    Note: applicationname is liverepeater-origin as it is relay server which is pulling streams from another wowza server. It takes 20 secs for clients to see streams if they are not running and it is becoming annoying for customers.

    Please help!

    Hi
    What have you added in the channelname4.stream file?

    Typically, you do this on a edge server with StreamType "liverepeater-edge" or "live", and the contents of /content/channelname4.stream would be an origin stream: rtmp url + stream name, for example:

    rtmp://[wowza-address]:1935/liveorigin/myStream

    The StreamType of the liveorigin application would be "liverepeater-origin"

    Take a look at this guide

    Hi Richard,

    So I cannot set streams to start automatically on Relay server?

    Stream Type for application is already set to liverepeater-origin since it is relay server pulling from another Wowza Server.

    Edge server application streamtypes are set to liverepeater-edge which is pulling from our relay server and <LiveStreamPacketizers> set to cupertinostreamingrepeater. I hope this is correct confirmation

    Wowza Version is Wowza Media Server 3 Monthly Edition 3.0.5 build1220

    Thanks,

    Yes you can. There is an issue with non-RTMP streams though. For HTTP streams it is suggested to do Packetization on the edge. See here: http://www.wowza.com/forums/showthre...ource-problems

    Hi Randall,

    Thanks for pointing to reference, they are all rtmp links.

    I see it works as expected for liverepeater-edge application so I am all set for now.

    Thanks,
    J
