Thread: Silverlight Live Player Black Video

Default Silverlight Live Player Black Video

SO I'm testing the silverlight smoothplayer client example. It loads the stream fine, but when it switches to the next video in the stream, the player goes black with the exception of a small line at the top where you can see parts of the video. Is there a setting somewhere that I missed for this player to work properly?

I guess you are using the Scheduler. If the video and (especially) the audio codec are different, switching can be a problem. Different clients have different tolerance for this. The best solution is switching between streams with the same video and audio encoding.

No, I am using VOD files as a live stream. All files are encoded the same. We do batch encoding so we can ensure all videos are using the same settings.

    Hi
Does this happen every time it changes in the scheduler?

Is this the tutorial you followed?,

What to the Wowza logs say when the stream changes and doesn't display the stream correctly?
    Do you get any errors?

Here is what I get in the access log file:

I am also getting an error trying to play the live stream in an Expression 4 player. I keep getting error 4001 /app/stream/Manifest not found. Doesn't WOWZA support Expression 4 player?

    haarvik,

How are you ensuring the keyframes are aligned? You can check using Wowza.

Always good to narrow down the problem.

It may be helpful to test with the BigBuckBunny sample files given in the VOD Tutorial.

Get your scheduler setup working with those first. Test your players. Then figure out if there's an issue with your encoding.

It may also be helpful to test a single multibirate VOD .smil, instead of doing the VOD->StreamClass->Live technique you are using. This will verify that your files are encoded correctly.
